ALTENBERG, Germany - USA bobsled drivers Steve Holcomb and Shauna Rohbock placed their Bo-Dyn sleds on the World Cup podium over the weekend on the demanding course in Altenberg, Germany.

Holcomb, after crashing in Saturday's two-man race, came back to grab a silver medal in the Sunday four-man competition. The defending World Champion leads the overall four-man World Cup standings as the tour enjoys its holiday break.

Shauna Rohbock drove herself to the bronze medal in the women's World Cup event to complete a North American sweep of the medals.

The American squad is contending for top World Cup honors in all disciplines - men and women - and will head to the Vancouver Winter Olympics as one of the top nations vying for medal honors, helped in large measure by their low-profile, aerodynamic Bo-Dyn sleds.

One of the men's drivers they will have to fend off is German Andre Lange. The most decorated Olympic pilot in history returned from injury in Altenberg and captured gold in both two and four man races on his home course.

On the Olympic track at Whistler, Canadian women will be among the favorites. In addition to being on home ice in February, Canada has talent - they finished first and second in front of Rohbock on Saturday.

Hopefully the low-profile Bo-Dyn sleds will enable American athletes to be anything but low profile when the Winter Olympics begin. At the pre-Olympic World Cup last winter at the Whistler Sliding Center, the Olympic bobsled site north of Vancouver, U.S. women finished 1-3-6, while the men placed 2-5-10 in the four man.

World Cup action resumes next month in Europe

Meanwhile, the Lucas Oil Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge presented by Whelen Engineering is preparing for its fifth edition in Lake Placid Jan. 8-10. The event, featuring NASCAR and NHRA drivers, raises money and awareness for the Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project, Inc.
